RCMP say 29-year-old Laura Karen Burton was arrested last week following a joint investigation by the New Brunswick RCMP Federal Operations West and the Fredericton Police Force.

Burton appeared in Fredericton Provincial Court on Thursday and was charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine and one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

She was remanded in custody until her next court appearance, scheduled for Tuesday, February 11.

Burton is already due to stand trial for assault and theft this summer after being charged in December.
