Presque Isle Police and several other agencies are investigating the death of a 44-year-old man who died in a taxi cab shortly after being picked up at the Northern Lights Motel on Monday morning.

Police say Harold St. Pierre, formerly of Van Buren, died mere minutes after the Aroostook Cab Company picked him up around 6:50am. The driver called for help after St. Pierre started acting strangely, and returned to the motel.

Police and ambulance personnel were unable to revive St.Pierre.

St. Pierre had been staying at the motel his girlfriend, 28-year-old Andrea Paul, of Caribou. Police got a search warrant and search the motel room, finding a slew of drug paraphernalia.

Paul was charged with violation of conditions of release.

The state medical examiner conducted an autopsy on St. Pierre’s body, but a cause of death has been withheld pending toxicology results.
