
Man Ejected from Motorcycle and Died on Interstate in Maine
A 78-year-old man died Wednesday evening after he was ejected from his motorcycle on I-295 in Freeport.
Motorcycle Left the Roadway and Hit the Shoulder
The Maine State Police said Edmund Goodman was riding a 2016 Indian Springfield motorcycle around 6:47 pm when he lost control, left the roadway and went into the grassy shoulder.

The motorcycle hit the raised edge of a crossover and overturned multiple times. Goodman was ejected from the motorcycle.
Medical Professionals Were Passing By and Stopped for First Aid
“Several medically trained motorists who were passing by immediately stopped and rendered aid,” said the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Died at the Scene of the Crash from Injuries
Goodman was pronounced dead at the scene from critical injuries.
Man Likely Suffered a Medical Event Before Crash
“Investigators believe Goodman likely suffered a medical event moments before leaving the roadway. The crash involved only Goodman’s motorcycle,” according to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.

Lane Close to Traffic for Investigation and Clean Up
The left lane of I-295 was closed to traffic for several hours for a crash investigation and to clear the scene.

Multiple Agencies responded including the Maine State Police, the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office, Yarmouth Fire and Rescue, the Maine DOT and Copp Motors.
