Driver Charged in Connection With Crash that Claimed the Life of RCMP Officer
A 31-year-old man is charged with driving without due care and attention and failing to move over after a crash that claimed the life of Nova Scotia RCMP officer, Cst. Frank Deschênes, in Memramcook, N.B. on September 12.
Vasiliy Meshko from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania was charged under the New Brunswick Motor Vehicle Act, said the RCMP. An investigation was assisted by an RCMP collision reconstructionist gathered evidence to determine what took place. The RCMP said, the investigation found there was not enough evidence to proceed with charges under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Meshko appeared in with a lawyer in Moncton Provincial Court on December 14. A request was made for an adjournment to December 15 to enter a plea, said the RCMP.
