Dirt Bike Collides with Sheriff’s Vehicle in Medway, Maine
A dirt bike collided with a Penobscot County Sheriff’s vehicle Tuesday afternoon on the Pattagumpus Road in Medway when the Deputy was trying to make a traffic stop.
Sheriff’s Deputy, Cpl. Daren Mason was attempting to conduct a traffic enforcement stop after seeing violations when a dirt bike and ATV approached. The driver of the dirt bike decelerated abruptly which caused Cpl. Mason to take evasive action, said Chief Deputy William Birch, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
The dirt bike collided on the passenger side of the Sheriff’s vehicle. Cpl Mason’s vehicle struck a frozen snow bank and came to rest on top of the snow bank.
The driver of the dirt bike suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital and released. Cpl Mason was not injured, said Chief Birch.
The driver's names were not given. The investigation continues.
