Deputy’s Cruiser Rear-Ended In Central Maine
A Kennebec County Deputy's cruiser was rear-ended Sunday night on Route 27 in Belgrade. Deputy Jeremy York, 36, and on other person were taken to Maine General Hospital in Augusta for non-life threatening injuries.
Deputy York's vehicle was hit around 6:15 p.m. by Schuyler Mann, 28, of South Portland. Mann veered into York's cruiser that was parked in the southbound breakdown lane in his fully marked 2018 Dodge Charger patrol vehicle, According to Stephen McCausland, Spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Delta Ambulance transported both Deputy York and Mann's passenger, 27-year-old Katherine Hynd of South Portland, to the hospital. Deputy York was released after being treated by the medical staff.
McCausland said, Mann was fatigued and fell asleep prior to the crash.
The crash is being reconstructed by State Police. The Belgrade Fire Department also responded to the scene.
