The USA Central Region team from Chicago, Illinois, scored its second win in as many days at the SLWS, outlasting Australia 13-8.

Making their tournament debut, the team from Melbourne, Australia, jumped in front 7-2 through three and a half innings, before Central responded with 11 runs over their final times at bat.

Illinois had five players record multi-hit performances, led by Zach Verta who went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored.

Josh Meyer turned in a 3-for-4 day in the middle of Australia's lineup, while Rydge Hogan drove in four runs in the losing effort.

As the first team to reach 2-0 in this year's tournament, U.S. Central will next play Tuesday (8/2) at 5 p.m. vs. Latin America. Australia's next game will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. against the winner of U.S. East (New Jersey) vs. U.S. Southwest (Texas).

USA West Region champ Hawaii took advantage of early game errors by Virginia to score three times in the first inning and then went on to score runs in the next four innings to win 7-4.

Hawaii banged out 10 hits, three by Bobby Drayer. He knocked in two runs.

Virginia had a 7th inning threat, scoring two runs and leaving the tying run stranded at first base.
