A collision between a pickup truck and a passenger van Friday morning on Route 1 in Westfield sent one person to the hospital.

Maine State Police say 64-year-old Ramon Putnam of Cary Plantation was driving north around 8 a.m. in his 2008 Toyota van.  Putnam was at the back of a long line of slow-moving traffic that was following a plow truck.

Police say 37-year-old Chris Coffin of Mars Hill was also heading north in a 1994 Chevrolet pickup. He didn't realize the traffic had slowed and ran into the back of Putnam’s van.

Coffin was not wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries in the crash. He was transported via Crown Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle. Putnam was not injured.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and are considered a total loss.
