A multi-vehicle crash Thursday morning involved an ambulance reporting to the Bridgewater crash scene where two vans collided.

Maine State Police said 42-year-old Glen Littleton from Houlton was driving the Houlton Ambulance to the Bridgewater accident around 8:30 am Thursday, following another ambulance.

When the two ambulances approached stopped traffic, the first ambulance was able to move to the left lane.

Police said Littleton was unable to stop on the icy roads. The ambulance swerved and hit the rear of a Kia driven by 38-year-old Sharon Cohen. Littleton then went around a tractor trailer & the Kia, sideswiping a Chrysler driven by 58-year-old Stephen Rush. The ambulance ended up off the road.

There were no patients in the ambulance when it crashed, said officials.
