Cooper Flagg Returns to Maine for ‘The Maine Event’
‘The Maine Event’ returns to Maine for ‘The Maine Event.’
Cooper Flagg is a lot of things. He’s a highly-touted NBA prospect who is a top pick, if not the consensus No. 1 prospect, in the 2025 NBA Draft. He’s an elite high school basketball player who has committed to Duke University and will be playing for the Blue Devils in the fall. But most importantly, he’s a 17-year-old from Maine, and as Mainers, we’re just so excited to see his success.
That’s where ‘The Maine Event’ comes into play. Presented by MADE Hoops, The Maine Event features a homecoming for Cooper Flagg, and his brother, Ace Flagg, when Montverde Academy travels up to Portland, on January 5th to headline two games of high school basketball at the Cross Insurance Arena.
The Flagg brothers and their Montverde Academy teammates from Montverde, Florida, face Gonzaga College High School from Washington D.C. on Friday.
Also, on the ‘undercard’ of the event, Cooper Flagg’s former school before transferring to Montverde Academy, Nokomis Regional High School, will play Cony High School. Flagg is a Newport native and led Nokomis to a state championship in 2022 before heading down south.

- 5:30 PM – Nokomis High School vs. Cony High School
- 7:30 PM – Montverde Academy vs. Gonzaga College High School
Tickets went on sale to the public in November but quickly sold out. When was the last time that you can remember a set of high school games selling out a venue as big as the Cross Insurance Arena?
We’re all very excited and happy for Cooper and look forward to seeing ‘The Maine Event’ return to Maine!
