Maine State Police say the crime spree by the teens started over the weekend in a stolen vehicle from Ontario, chased by Canadian Police and later found abandoned in Sherbrook, Quebec.

Late Monday night, police say the boy and girl fled from police in a stolen car across the Coburn Gore US Border Crossing, reaching speeds of over 100 mph. Border Patrol agents fired shots at the fleeing car, after it collided with two Border Patrol vehicles.

That car was later found abandoned in Kingfield. Police say the teens then stole a pickup truck from a nearby residence. State Police Lt. Aaron Hayden spotted the truck in New Portland a short time later and attempted to stop it.

The fleeing pickup ran over spike mats set out by other officers, deflating two of its tires. Back in Kingfield, State Police initiated a low speed contact with the truck attempting to immobilize it and a short time later the truck stopped along guardrails along Route 27.

The teens both jumped into the river in an attempt to get away. Police arrested  a 16-year-old boy from Eganville, Ontario and a 13-year-old girl from Pembroke, Ontario early Tuesday.

Both were taken to a Farmington hospital. The girl has since been transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland with possible internal injuries.

Their names have not been released.
