A 34-year-old man was arrested Sunday and charged after kicking in a door and threatening a person with a firearm on Munjoy Hill in Portland.

Facing Multiple Charges Including Assault

Devon Dwyer from Falmouth was charged with Assault, Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon, Burglary, Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention, Criminal Mischief, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Aggravated Drug Trafficking and Violating Conditions of Release.

Crash Electric Scooter into Police Cruiser During Chase

The Portland Police Department said Dwyer fled from officers on an electric scooter and crashed into a police cruiser before being taken into custody.

Struck the Victim with the Firearm Before Fleeing

Police said Dwyer had struck the victim with the weapon before fleeing the scene.

Wearing Ballistic Plates with a Handgun, knife and in Possession of Fentanyl

“At the time of his arrest, Dwyer was wearing ballistic plates under his clothing and was in possession of a handgun and a fixed-blade knife. Among the drugs recovered were approximately 91 grams of fentanyl,” according to Portland PD.

Suspect Taken to the Hospital with Injuries and Transported to County Jail

Dwyer was transported to Maine Medical Center with injuries and later released to police. He was then taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
