Four Arrested, Drugs Seized, Three Fled from Police in Maine

Four people were arrested on active warrants and a man and woman charged with drug trafficking after a search of a hotel room Thursday.

Drugs Seized at Hotel and Four Arrested

The Oxford Police Department seized “trafficking-level quantities of illegal drugs” in the room at the Hampton Inn.

Suspicious Activity and Unwanted Guests

Officers were called to the scene for a report of suspicious activity and unwanted guests.

Fled the Hotel Room Out a Window and Ran into Woods

A 44-year-old man, Jason Purington, opened a window and fled into a wooded area when officers knocked on the door.

Resisted Arrest and Combative with Police

After a foot chase, Purington resisted arrest and was combative with police.

Charged with Drug Trafficking, Assault on Police and Additional Crimes

He was taken into custody and charged with drug trafficking, criminal trespass, unsworn falsification, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, assault on a law enforcement officer, trafficking in prison contraband and outstanding warrants.

Second Man Arrested with Active Warrants

A 38-year-old man, Tyler Page, was arrested in the hotel room and charged with criminal trespass, unsworn falsification and outstanding warrants.

Two Women Fled the Hotel Before Police Responded

Two women, 37-year-old Tamera Benson and 34-year-old Brianne Simard, were in the room before police arrived and fled across the street. They were apprehended.

Two Women Face Multiple Charges

Benson was charged with drug trafficking, drug possession and active warrants. Simard was taken into custody on outstanding warrants.
