80-Year-Old Maine Woman Killed In Crash; 2 Others Hurt
BROWNFIELD, Maine (AP) — Police say an 80-year-old Maine woman was killed and two other people were hurt in a wrong-way crash.
Police said Sunday that Gail "Jane" Sumner, of Hiram, died instantly in the Friday's crash in Brownfield.
The Portland Press Herald reports that Sumner was a passenger in a car driven by a 70-year-old man that crossed the center line on Route 113, hitting a car going the other direction. The 70-year-old man and the driver of the other car were both taken to a hospital for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
Police are still investigating. They do not believe speed or alcohol played a part in the crash.
