Central Maine Man Sets Fire in Front of Neighbor’s Door
A 29-year-old Oxford man has been charged with arson after starting a fire Thursday evening in the housing complex where he lives.
Investigators said Timothy C. Williams Jr. set a newspaper on fire in front of the doorway of an elderly resident who lives across the hall from him. The woman had to douse the fire to get out of her apartment after she heard the alarm. The fire was reported around 4 a.m. Thursday. No one was injured.
Investigators said Williams was mad at another tenant in the building, said Stephen McCausland, Public Safety Spokesman. He was taken to the Oxford County Jail.
Another fire occurred at the Oxford Meadow Apartment complex over the last year. An elderly resident died after a fire started in a common area from an electrical issue. That fire was ruled accidental.
