A 50-year-old woman died Monday after a head-on collision in Poland, Maine.

Woman Died after Head-On Crash

Heather Keniston from South Paris, Maine died after the crash around 2:30 pm on Route 11.

Hit Snow Drift and Lost Control

The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office said Keniston “lost control after striking a snow drift created by high winds from Tripp Lake.” Her vehicle then veered into oncoming traffic.

Man and Passengers Involved in Crash

She collided with a truck driven by 70-year-old Robert Clougherty from Casco. He and his passengers were not injured in the accident.

Speed and Road Conditions Factors

Deputies said “unsafe speed for the road conditions and hazardous roadway conditions, including snowdrifts, are believed to be contributing factors to the crash."

Not Wearing Seatbelt

Keniston was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash is under investigation.
