29-Year-old Man Injured after Colliding with a Train in Maine
A 29-year-old man was injured Thursday night after colliding with a freight train in Auburn.
Man said he did not see Train
Police said Gerald Novach of Denboro, Pennsylvania told officers he did not see the train or the warning lights at the railroad crossing on Rodman Road.
Police do not Know Why he did not Stop
Officials told WMTW News that they do not know why Novach did not hear the bell or see the train and lights.
Train Damaged and Vehicle Totaled
The train had minor damage to the locomotive and an empty tanker. Novach’s vehicle was totaled and the airbags were deployed. No one else was injured.
No Crossing Bars
The train was slowly passing through the crossing, said police. There are no crossing bars in the area.
