Lincoln Sets Date/Releases Theme For This Year’s ‘Loon Festival’
Since 1979, the town of Lincoln, Maine, has held a massive summer celebration. It's been rebranded a couple of times, but for over a decade now, they've affectionately called it the "Lincoln Loon Festival."
'Loon Fest,' as it's called for short, usually takes place in the middle of July, with a different theme each year.
This year, it's scheduled to take place Thursday, July 17th, through Sunday, July 20th.
This year's theme is "Party Like It's 1999!"
This 4-day event features a Loon Calling contest, the 79th annual River Drivers' Supper, a parade, and fireworks over Mattanawcook Pond.
There will also be live music, local food, artisans, a basketball tournament the always amusing "The Redneck Regatta."
Organizers say activities will take place between the Library parking lot along West Broadway, Veterans Square, and Cobb Field.
According to town officials, Loon Fest brings between 10 to 12 thousand people to the area each year.
Organizers say anyone interested in becoming a vendor will be placed on a waiting list because spots at Veterans Memorial Square are full. You can find ut more about that by clicking here.
