Wintergreen Receives Grant for Agriculture Video
Thanks to a $4000 grant, Wintergreen Arts Center will be able to create a video highlighting the importance of agriculture to the local County economy.
The grant is from the Maine Expansion Arts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation at the recommendation of the advisors.
Dottie Hutchins, Wintergreen’s executive director, said the arts center is thrilled to finally be able to make this project a reality. “The idea for Wintergreen’s students to create this video project came from a member of the agricultural community right here in Aroostook County.”
Wintergreen teachers and students will work with farmers, processors, agricultural officials, and others, to gather background information and complete the research needed to build storyboards and write a script in preparation for video production to take place over the growing season. Rowena and Shawn McPherson of Mouse Island Creatives located in Perham will serve as creative consultants on the project.
A $500 donation from the Northern Maine Agricultural Foundation, matched by a $500 gift from McCain Foods USA, will go to help support the project.
