***UPDATE*** The truck driver in this morning’s crash in Richmond has been cited for failing to move over for an emergency vehicle, according to police. Trooper Greg Stevens, a 17 year State Police veteran, is being treated at Maine Medical Center for broken ribs, neck and leg injuries.

According to police, 56 year old Gusan Yedic of Yorktown Heights, NY was summonsed for the violation after his tractor trailer slammed into the rear of a State Police cruiser along Interstate 295 in Richmond.

Stevens, a 17 year State Police veteran, is being treated at Maine Medical Center for broken ribs and neck and leg injuries. The cruiser, a 2015 Ford SUV, was demolished.   The tractor trailer is owned Yamamoto Carrier Inc., of Buffalo Grove, NY. It was empty at the time of the collision.

The burned out tractor trailer is slated to be removed from the median this afternoon and traffic will be reduced to one lane. Northbound traffic should detour to Route 201 or the Maine Turnpike to avoid any tie-ups.

Maine’s “move over law”  says motorists should merge to the left or slow down when an emergency vehicle or wrecker is alongside a road with its lights on.
