Police in Waterville, Maine say a body was found late Wednesday afternoon in the basement of the home of a missing 29-year-old woman. A positive ID has not been made but the woman's boyfriend remains behind bars.

Police say Melissa Sousa was last seen Tuesday morning when she put her twin daughters on a school bus near her home.

Sousa's boyfriend, 28-year-old Nicholas Lovejoy, was arrested early Wednesday. He is being held at the Kennebec County Jail on charges of having a loaded rifle in his vehicle and endangering the welfare of the 8-year-old girls, who were left home alone.
