Two men were taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision on north Main Street in Presque Isle.

The Presque Isle Police Department reports the crash happened at around 2:10 pm when a 2009 Toyota SUV driven by a 53-year-old Fort Fairfield man failed to stop at a red light at the end of Connector Road.

An 82-year-old Ashland man was northbound on Main Street in a 2005 Chrysler van and struck the SUV broadside as it traveled across Main Street, according to Deputy Police Chief Laurie Kelly. The impact caused the SUV to roll onto its side and slide into the Maysville Street intersection.

Both drivers–Joseph Levesque of Fort Fairfield and Neil Riley of Ashland–were transported by Presque Isle Fire and Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center for treatment. Deputy Chief Kelly said both men complained of neck and upper body pain.
