Runners from all over competed in a variety of races including the full Caribou Marathon on Sunday. The fans turned out in droves. We have the race results, pictures & video.


Maine athletes dominated the top 10 finishers at the inaguaral 2016 Caribou Marathon. Erik McCarthy from Old Town was a favorite and won the race with a time of just over 2 hours and 36 minutes. Caribou's Evan Graves was right behind the leader, finishing in 2:41. Here are the full race results.

The weather held out for spectators and brought fairly mild running conditions for the athletes. There was a lot of media covering the event - the 'basket' pictured below was used to capture some overhead shots.

The first time around the 13.1 mile loop brought the half marathoners to the finish. Full marathon joggers went around again for the 26.2 (42K) total.

The finish line was busy as the participants finished up their part of the race. Fans had bells, banners and cheers for their favorites.

The medals were locally made from Maine wood and etched to commemorate the Caribou Marathon and the runner's achievements:

The Caribou Wellness Center (below) was abuzz with activity with food, live music, and vendors.

Local band, 'Common Crossing' played at the Wellness Center along with several other acts.
