A body found in South Portland has been identified as a Freeport woman and her death ruled a homicide.

Who is the Deceased?

The Chief Medical Examiner's Office has identified the deceased as Danielle Goodwin, 52, of Freeport.

Where Was She Found?

South Portland Police were sent to an area along Clark's Pond Road at approximately 5:00 Wednesday night for a report of a deceased person. The woman's body was found down an embankment in a wooded area near a Home Depot store. While Detectives from the South Portland Police Department and the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit worked through the night to process the scene, the woman's body was taken to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office where an autopsy was performed on Thursday. While the woman's death has been ruled a homicide, police are not commenting on the manner of her death.

Police say there is no known threat to the public.

Now, officials are hoping to hear from anyone who may have information about the last vehicle Goodwin was seen in. Moss says investigators are looking for a blue 2016 Honda CRV, with Maine registration 2773VM. Anyone who sees the vehicle or who thinks they have information pertinent to this case is asked to contact the Maine State Police at 207-624-7076, extension 9.
