A 52-year-old Sherman man struck a moose with his pickup Wednesday morning on Route 11 in T8-R5, said the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office.
Timothy McNally hit the moose around 5 a.m. Wednesday. Two passengers and McNally were not injured in the accident. Deputy Reid Clark responded to the incident and determined that the moose ran on the roadway, and McNally was unable to avoid the animal.
There was extensive damage to the front passenger side of the Dodge Ram, said Sheriff Darrell O. Crandall, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.
The occupants in the vehicle were wearing seat belts, said Crandall. The Dodge was towed from the scene.
