Section of US Route 1 in Blaine Shut Down to Traffic [UPDATE]

The Maine Department of Transportation has re-opened a section of US Route 1 in Aroostook County that was closed for several hours on Wednesday evening.

Route 1 in Blaine from the Kinney road to the E Plantation road was closed due to fallen trees and power lines at around 6:30 p.m. The road re-opened to traffic just after 8:30 p.m.

Utility crews and emergency personnel responded and took swift action clearing the roadway of debris and fixing downed power lines.

Severe thunderstorms are moving through the area, with winds in excess of 60mph.
