Second Suspect Charged In Connection With Home Invasion in Moncton
The Codiac RCMP have charged a second man in connection with a home invasion on Eaglewood Drive in Moncton.
On September 22, around 1:20 a.m., police responded to a report of a home invasion in the Oak subdivision. Two people in the home were assaulted and threatened by two men armed with long barrel guns. The suspects fled with electronics and an undisclosed amount of money. The homeowners were taken to hospital with minor injuries and released.
Christopher James Melanson, a 32-year-old man from Moncton, was arrested in Moncton on September 27. He appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on September 28.
Melanson was charged with the following:
-two counts of robbery with a firearm
-two counts of pointing a firearm
-two counts of unlawful confinement
-two counts of assault with a weapon
-two counts of uttering threats
-disguise with intent
-sexual assault with use of a firearm
-sexual assault
-break and enter
-possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose
-using a firearm in the commission of an offence
-unauthorized possession of a firearm
-possession of a weapon contrary to an order
He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on September 29 at 9:30 a.m.
Vincent Harland Mallory, a 31-year-old man from Moncton, was arrested and charged with nineteen charges in relation to the home invasion. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on October 16, 2017 at 9:30 a.m.
