One person is dead and three others were injured in a single-vehicle crash in Searsmont.
A Resident of Appleton Lost Their Life in the Crash
Dakota Dean, 24, of Appleton died at the scene of the crash. Three other people who were also in the vehicle suffered serious injuries. So far, their names have not been released.
The Three Other Occupants Were Taken to Local Hospitals
The Waldo County Regional Communications Center was notified of a single-vehicle crash on Appleton Ridge Road in Searsmont at approximately 1:36 on Saturday afternoon. Members of the Maine State Police and Waldo County Sheriff's Office responded, as several area local fire departments, and EMS. When they arrived, they found Dean deceased and the other three occupants of the vehicle hurt. The three surviving occupants were transported for medical care.
Police Have Not Commented on What Caused the Car to Leave the Roadway
An initial investigation into the crash circumstances indicates that the Nissa Versa was traveling on Appleton Ridge Road when it left the pavement and impacted two large trees. The crash remains under investigation. So far, there's no indication about what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
