An access ramp to I-395 in Bangor was closed for hours on Thursday after an RV went over the guardrail.

Did the Crash Disrupt Traffic?

I drove by the crash scene just after it happened and rescue vehicles were lining I-395 East. Since I was driving on the westbound side of the highway, I wasn't able to get pictures. But by the time I headed back to the radio station over two hours later, the I-95 off-ramp to I-395 was closed as rescue crews worked to remove the vehicle. Thank you to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss for providing photos of the scene.

What Happened?

Maine State Police say it was around 11:00 Thursday morning when they responded to a report of a recreational vehicle rollover on the side of I-395 in Bangor. An initial investigation indicates that the operator of the RV was driving too fast and allegedly distracted when the large vehicle went off the roadway, rolled over the right-hand guardrail,  and fell down an embankment.

Was Anyone Hurt?

The driver was alone in the vehicle. Police say the operator was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
