The annual kickoff celebration for this year's Relay For Life Aroostook is just around the corner.

The kickoff will be held Tuesday, January 22, from 5:30-7:00 pm in the Chan Center at Cary Medical Center. Light refreshments will be served during the social which begins at 5:30, with a program to follow at 6:15.

The Relay for Life Leadership Team will provide updates on this year's event and local speakers will share their stories and battles with cancer.

The kickoff event is a precursor to this year’s Aroostook Relay For Life, taking place June 22, where from 11 am to 11 pm, survivors, families, friends and caregivers will walk or run laps on the track relay style with the goal of raising funds to support free programming for cancer patients and families as well as research.

Jordyn Madore, Event Co-Lead, says “This is an excellent opportunity for past and current teams to come together, learn about the upcoming event, and begin to work together to raise money for a cause that is close to all of our hearts."

In 2018, Relay for Life events helped the American Cancer Society provide 456,000 free lodging services, one-on-one peer support, 340,000 free rides to treatment, and receive over 1.2 million phone calls providing information and support through the free 24/7 call center.

Community members are encouraged to attend this exciting and moving event. If you are interested in attending or would like to learn more about Relay For Life of Aroostook, visit www.relayforlife.org/aroostookme or https://www.facebook.com/AroostookRelayForLife.
