Police will be conducting traffic operations targeting a variety of unsafe driving practices, including impaired driving and failure to wear a seat-belt, as well as aggressive driving and using handheld devices while driving.

So far in 2013, 20 people have died in collisions on New Brunswick roads. Alcohol or drugs were a factor in about 10 per cent of those deaths, down from about 25 per cent during the same period in 2012. However, the percentage of fatal crashes where the victims were not wearing a seat-belt has increased, from 23 per cent last year to 40 per cent so far in 2013.

Be safe out there on the roads and enjoy the long New Brunswick Day weekend.
