The 69th Annual Presque Isle Rotary Auction will introduce some new features to make bidding easier and move things along more quickly than in previous years.

The charity auction, which is televised live statewide on Time Warner Cable Channel 9 will also be streamed live worldwide for the first time on Big Country 96.9’s YouTube channel from 7 - 10 p.m. EST Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

For the first time, the telecast will include electronic boards featuring the name & description of each item, along with the item number and value. Also, instead of half-hour bidding segments with more than two-dozen items at a time, this year's auction will be broken up into 15-minute blocks with 12 items per board.

Rotarians Mandy Pooler-Hall and Jason Parent are serving as co-chairs for this year's auction, which is originating from the Red Room of the historic Northeastland Hotel in downtown Presque Isle.

As always, the auction will include a large number of products and services generously donated by local businesses and organizations that will be up for bid over the three evenings. Over 600 items, altogether valued at over $50,000, have been solicited by Rotarians and other community volunteers.

Over nearly seven decades, the Presque Isle Rotary Auction has raised millions of dollars for numerous causes that, in turn, have enhanced the lives of many across Aroostook County.

The six proceed partners selected this year are:

- Aroostook County Action Program, emergency funds for un-met needs County-wide

- Central Aroostook Association, construction of a recreational area and outdoor pavilion

- Friends of Aroostook, farming supplies to support Meals on Wheels

- The Northern Lighthouse, expansion of its Mental Health Resource Library

- Pregnancy Care Center, update of Prenatal Health and Parenting Education Materials

- United Way of Aroostook, expansion of the Dolly's Imagination Library Program

Each year a Special Project Partner is funded through a collaborative solicitation of direct community member donations made during the Auction. Typically, the goal for the Special Project is to raise between $20,000 and $25,000 for larger community projects. This year, the Rotary Club has selected Aroostook Football as the Special Project Partner. Learn more about the special project here.

The Presque Isle Rotary Club maintains a membership of approximately 100 individuals and is part of a world-wide organization of community volunteers. If you're interested in learning more about Rotary and its ideals visit PresqueIsleRotary.org.
