Hungry Locals Turn Out to Taste Pies From the New Orrington Pizza

Orrington once again has a pizza place that serves sandwiches and ice cream.

The New Business in Orrington Fills a Void Left by 2 Others

A short time ago, a buzz went up in Orrington and had everyone watching the site of the old Pizzaland restaurant on Route 15. Pizzaland changed hands a few years ago and then shut down completely, which left a void in our food choices. Kozy Korner became an option for pizza, but then they closed. So when people noticed 'Orrington Pizza,' painted on the old Pizzaland door, everyone got excited.

Orrington Pizza's Owners Are Well-Known in the Area's Culinary Community

On Tuesday, April 9th, a post on the Orrington community pages on Facebook stated, 'We're open!' I reached out to the owners through their Facebook page and learned a few interesting things:

• The owners are Jen and Joe Ramos
• They also own Bangor Sandwich Co. on Hammond Street in Bangor
• Jen and Joe live in Orrington

They told me that, like everyone else in town, they felt a local restaurant was needed. Everyone loves pizza and said traveling to Bangor or Brewer for great food doesn't make sense. So they decided to open Orrington Pizza, which offers pizza choices, sandwiches, and Gifford's ice cream in waffle cones. This fills another void in Orrington after Kozy Korner closed and, with it, their Gifford's ice cream window.

They Passed My Taste Test With Flying Colors

My husband Jim and I checked it out last night and got two huge, delicious pizzas with a perfect blend of cheese and sauce, plus tasty toppings. Jen and Joe again took to Facebook to express their gratitude for the turnout. I think everyone in town stopped by for food.

I see great things for their future and many pizzas on my table.
