Orono Art Fest Continues the Tradition in Maine
Orono Arts Fest brings together a mix of local and regional artists for the enjoyment of the Orono, Maine community and beyond. - oronoartsfest.com
It almost seemed like the town of Orono was not going to have an arts festival this summer that so many Mainers looked forward to since 2011. Stillwater Community Arts previously hosted "Artsapalooza," Orono's original arts festival that celebrated the talents of so many artists in Maine for well over the past decade, but stated in March of 2024 that they would no longer be able to continue after 13 years of service. No reason was given as to why, but it was mentioned that putting on the event took many hours of fundraising.

Mary Jean “MJ” Sedlock works as Production Manager, Technical Director, and Senior Lecturer for the University of Maine School of Performing Arts. The schedule was tight, but MJ and her team pulled off putting together Orono Arts Fest which kicks off their three-day celebration July 12th, 2024, showcasing local artists from all over the Maine and surrounding region.
Orono Arts Fest promises to build and grow on the 13-year foundation established by the beloved Artsapalooza. The 3-day event features several free events and ticketed signature events that include an improv comedy show. A Kids' Day is likely to be a huge hit as well that takes place on Saturday, July 13th.
