If you have ever doubted whether Maine is really worthy of the nickname "Vacationland" all you have to do is a quick Google search.  You'll find that Maine's towns and landmarks come up on numerous lists of places you need to visit.

Well, one Maine town has landed on ANOTHER list!

According to travel website Trips To Discover, Bar Harbor has been named one of the best small towns in the WORLD to go for summer vacation.

Why Bar Harbor?

The website highlighted many of our favorite things about the quaint coastal town.  The article talks about how close it is to Acadia National Park.  The article also makes reference to how the town is filled with amazing amazing shops and great restaurants.

Specifically, the website says:

Its downtown area is filled with spectacular Victorian-era mansions, some of which have been transformed into B&Bs and fine dining eateries. It’s very walkable and bicycle friendly, but one of the most popular things to do is to hit the trails in the park, including a route that leads to the top of Cadillac Mountain, the tallest mountain along the Atlantic coast.

Some of the places in Bar Harbor that we think are worth a visit include the Thirsty Whale Tavern, Geddy's, the Side Street Cafe, and you should definitely stop by the classic 1932 Criterion Theater.

One of the other things that we really love about the town is that it has so much to offer off the main streets.  Some of the best shops, watering holes, and lodging can be found on the town's side streets.

From outside the US, the list includes Cavtat, Croatia and Portmagee, Ireland.
