NB Power Warns Customers of Phone Scam

NB Power is warning of a phone scam in the province where callers are posing as NB Power employees.

The callers are trying to convince customers to make urgent payments by money order to avoid having their power disconnected. The utility says it has already received several reports from customers who have received fraudulent calls.

If you receive this type of call, you are encouraged to report it  immediately to your local police force, the RCMP or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.

NB Power also reminds customers to be cautious when receiving telephone calls requesting financial information or offering products and services.
