Over the past week, Codiac Regional RCMP arrested three youths in connection with thefts from vehicles. In the early morning hours, Thursday, two male youths, ages 14 and 16, were also arrested in Dieppe.

Police are also continuing to step up efforts to curb the recent rash of thefts from vehicles that have been occurring over the summer. Police continue to remind residents to lock their vehicles and report suspicious activity.

We're receiving reports from the public about suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods and that is helping our investigations," said S/Sgt. Maurice Comeau of the Codiac Regional RCMP. "We are making progress but we're still seeing a higher than normal amount of thefts from vehicles so we want people to continue coming forward with information."

According to police, on August 26, 2015, a 13 year old boy was arrested in Dieppe for trespassing at night and theft from a vehicle. He appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on August 27.

In the early morning hours of September 3, two male youths, ages 14 and 16, were also arrested in Dieppe. They were released into the custody of their parents and will appear in court at a later date, said police.

This brings the total arrests in relation to thefts from vehicles over the past two months to five.
