State Police say northbound traffic on the turnpike in Saco has resumed following a tractor trailer crash Monday morning. Officials advise traffic backups will take some time to clear.

Troopers said a southbound car went out of control and collided with the big rig. The truck then crossed the median and struck a car on the northbound side of the turnpike.

The operator of that second car sustained non-life threatening injuries. Both the truck and the second vehicle came to rest off the side of the road.

The car that started the chain of events did not stop. Police described it only as a small maroon car.
