Grab, your tissues because this one’s got everything, snow, suspense, and a very heroic dog named Moose.

Not a real Moose animal, although that would be wild, but Moose is a five-year-old Rottweiler-boxer mix in Thomaston, Maine, according to News Center Maine.

His family was involved in a crash, sliding off the road due to snow conditions. That happened on January 10th after returning from ice fishing. But when that took place, Moose got spooked and bolted into the woods.

And did not come back for almost 40 days, Moose ending up losing over 40 pounds and survived alone in the Maine woods, until he was spotted by two snowmobilers on January 26th by, Tyler Robbins and Kal Kaithan.

Snowmobilers are certainly having a moment here in New England with all of the rescues!

As per the story, they were checking trails in Montville as per the report, and at first they thought he was just another dog that belonged to someone nearby.

Keithlan said,

“When he stood up, the snow fell off him. He had been laying under the tree where it was dry.” News Center Maine

Before leaving, Robbins posted photos of the dog on Facebook asking if anyone was missing it.

Thanks to that post, a network of volunteers, drone searches, and sheer persistence. Moose, was finally captured! They discovered through that the situation was much bigger than he expected.

Yeah, he had to be chased and there was a little growling involved but alas, was reunited with his family.
What a comeback!

Weeks alone, almost 30 miles from home, and Moose’s story reminds us: Maine snowmobilers are literally heroes! His family has posted Facebook updates consistently on Moose's healing journey!
