List of Unsolved Missing Persons Cases in Maine Since 2000

While time continues to move forward, for many of the families of Maine’s missing persons, it often stands still.

The Maine State Police have a list of individuals who have disappeared with their cases unsolved, including 13 since 2000.

All these years later, the search for answers continues, and the hope that a tip, a memory, or a small detail could finally make a difference.

Missing Persons in Maine

Each missing person case has its own unique story, and what led to each disappearance widely varies.

One of the most recent names on the Maine State Police list includes Attiin Shaw, who went missing from Aroostook County.

WGME reported that Shaw, who was 33 at the time she went missing and a mother of four, "walked from her Washburn home in September 2021 and was never seen again."

According to the Bangor Daily News, former Washburn police officer Hunter Bellanceau contacted the Maine State Police Major Crimes unit for help in 2023, and investigators even visited Washburn in 2024 looking for new leads.

Sadly, no answers have been uncovered as of yet.

“She’s someone, and she’s missing,” Bellanceau told the BDN. “Her family deserves answers, and she deserves justice.”

While Shaw’s case remains unresolved, it is far from alone. She is one of several missing persons in Maine whose disappearances continue to be investigated years later.
