Man Shot In Home Invasion In Richmond, Maine
RICHMOND, Maine (AP) — Police say a man was shot while trying to break through a front door of a neighbor's apartment in Richmond, Maine.
Police Chief Scott MacMaster says 42-year-old Shad Hembree was wrestled out of the apartment and was shot when he broke the glass on the door to try to regain entry.
The chief identified the gunman as 28-year-old Trevor Whitney, a military veteran. The chief said Whitney was not charged because he fired in self-defense.
MacMaster said the injured Hembree was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta but not before he smashed the windows of the victim's vehicle. The chief said Hembree was shot in the shoulder, and his injuries were not life threatening.
