Man Crashes Into SUV & Guardrail on Turnpike After Going 100 MPH
A 40-year-old Bangor man crashed a stolen car after traveling over 100 mph on the Maine Turnpike Friday afternoon.
Joseph Lawrence crashed into guardrails & another car on the Maine Turnpike in York. He was taken to a hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Police said he was in serious condition with head injuries.
Troopers received several reports of the erratic driver heading south. They caught up to Lawrence just south of the York toll plaza. He crashed a short time after police attempted to pull him over.
Lawrence struck an SUV and it overturned. The driver, Daniel Belanger of Skowhegan, suffered minor injuries.
Officials say Lawrence is a transient from the Bangor area. He is facing multiple charges.
