Man Arrested after Vehicle and Tools Stolen in Fort Kent, Maine
A 20-year-old man was arrested after a vehicle and several pieces of forestry equipment were stolen from the University of Fort Kent.
Suspect Arrested for Stealing Vehicle and Tools
The Fort Kent Police Department said Preston Soucy has been taken into custody and faces charges for the crimes.
Items Stolen from UMFK Campus
The vehicle was stolen from a parking lot at UMFK on June 30. Forestry equipment was also stolen from a shed on campus including 10 chainsaws and various handheld saws and tools.
Man in the Area “Acting Suspicious”
Fort Kent Police also received information about “an individual showing up at homes within the Fort Kent area and acting suspicious.”
Facing Multiple Charges
Soucy was arrested and charged with Burglary, Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer, Unauthorized use of Property and Violating Conditions of Release. He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.
Firearm Recovered
A firearm was also recovered and was transferred to the Maine State Police.
