Maine Police Say A Massachusetts Man Was Hurt In I-95 Crash
A Massachusetts man suffered serious injuries in a rollover crash on I-95 in Bangor.
A Serious Crash Happened Near the Off-Ramp to I-395
The crash happened near Mile Marker 181, near the exit to I-395. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says Kenneth Cartledge, 25, of Beverly, Massachusetts was injured in the crash. He was transported to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
Maine State Police Say the Vehicle Traveled Across the Median Before Overturning
The crash was reported just before 7:00 Monday morning as a personal injury crash on the interstate. Troopers responded and found several motorists rendering aid to a man who had been ejected from his vehicle and was lying on the roadway, alive and talking. Bangor Fire and EMS arrived and took over the care of Mr. Cartledge before taking him to the hospital.
An initial investigation into the crash indicates that Cartledge was traveling southbound when he lost control of his Ford F-250 pickup. The truck crossed the center median and entered the northbound lane of travel where it overturned, ejecting Cartledge. Officials say he was not wearing a seatbelt and was likely traveling too fast for the road conditions.
The Vehicle Ended Up Blocking Both Lanes of Travel
The vehicle ended up on its side, in the northbound lane, blocking both travel lanes. As a result, traffic backed up until, finally, police initiated a full shutdown.
