The class will focus on teaching timber harvesting on private woodlots with an emphasis on good planning to maximize the woodlots economic potential, selecting the right logger and forester, including best contract practices, and harvesting in a way that protects the property's scenic and habitat value.

'This workshop is intended to give landowners who are considering harvesting the information they need to plan an environmentally productive and economically profitable harvest," said instructor Morten Moesswilde, district forester for the Maine Forest Service, under the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry.

The Maine Forest Department also offers free appointments to people with a forester who can answer their questions.
