If you're all about heat, the beach, visits to the lake or anything to do with summer, you just don't want to think about it.

'It' being the fact that summer is about a month away from its end. That the long days of daylight in Maine are disappearing.

What you may not realize is just how fast that daylight vanishes from your day-to-day in Maine. Or depending on where you're located in the state, you're already seeing more dark skies than you want to in August.

Most of Maine is Going to Lose 80 Minutes of Daylight This August

According to Accuweather, the northeast celebrates August as one of the warmest months of the year. Simultaneously, August flushes sunlight out from the sky like a bad habit.

The majority of Maine will lose approximately 80 minutes of daylight through the 31 days of August. That's 2.5 minutes of daylight per day. Compare that to Texas or Florida, where people in those states will only lose 40 minutes of daylight during that same stretch of time.

Portions of The County in Maine Will Lose Even More Daylight

There are portions of northern Maine that will see their summer daylight disappear even quicker than those in other parts of the state.

The most northern parts of Aroostook County will lose a little over 90 minutes of daylight throughout the 31 days of August. It's most daylight any part of the country will lose during the month of August.

September is shaping up to be about the same amount of daylight loss as October with most of Maine losing between 80-85 minutes of daylight during the 30 days of September.
