According to WMTW, Maine police are warning residents and businesses about counterfeit money that is circulating across the entire state.
This includes $100 bills that were never meant to be used as real money.
According to the report, folks have been coming in from all over Maine ranging from Bangor to Can Buren with fake cash.

Many of the cases have found the money during business deposits, which is the time when bills finally get a closer look by the people at the bank.
What’s bizarre is that some of them are actually labeled “for motional picture purposes” or “copy”. You'd think you’d notice, but picture yourself in a rush, grabbing your change and shoving it into your wallet or purse. We don’t always inspect our cash up close.
The markings can be super easy to miss, especially when someone is moving fast and paying with the larger bills.
