Maine: Brothers Jump to Safety in Fire; 1 Victim Identified
The State Fire Marshal’s Office say the victim who died Tuesday night in a fire at his Livermore Falls home Tuesday night is believed to be 66-year-old Peter Dyer.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office is completing additional testing to establish a positive ID, said Stephen McCausland, Maine Public Safety Spokesman.
Two young brothers, ages 13 and 11, jumped from an upper story window to escape the flames.
Dyer’s body was found in the first floor living room where Fire Marshals say the fire started and spread quickly to the rest of the house. Dyer rented the house and lived there with other relatives.
Fire Marshals say the cause of the fire is undermined because of the extensive damage to the building.
