Another blast of wintry weather is expected to hit northern Maine late Tuesday, leaving 4 to 8 inches of wet snow on the ground by Wednesday morning from Millinocket to Madawaska.

The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for wet snow, in effect from 2 p.m. EST Tuesday until 4 a.m. Wednesday. Snow is likely to start falling in northern Aroostook in the early afternoon and spread southward.

Forecasters say heavy, wet snow will lead to difficult driving conditions. Temperatures will dip to the upper 20s Tuesday night. A bit of sleet and freezing rain may mix in across some areas.

Yet another storm on the heels of this one could bring another 6” or more of snow Wednesday night into Thursday, December 1st, according to the National Weather Service.

While Aroostook County will get a double blast of snow this week, areas to the south, including Bangor will see mostly rain.

We’ll keep you updated with any further details in the coming hours.
