Local Maine Ice Cream Shop Named One of the Best in America
Here in our Pine Tree State, we love ice cream, and by the sounds of it, even folks ‘from away’ are loving our ice cream!
Who doesn't love ice cream? There's so much to love about it! However, believe it or not, not all ice cream is created equal.
But first, how does one even determine the best ice cream in America?
The publication 24/7 Wall St. compiled a list of the ‘Best Ice Cream Shops in America’ by analyzing ratings and reviews from a diverse array of food and general interest websites, such as The Daily Meal, Eater, Today, PBS, Spoon University, Thrillist, and Yelp.
Additionally, 24/7 Wall St. also took into account feedback from various local and regional sites, ensuring a comprehensive and balanced selection process that reflects both national trends and regional favorites.
So, with all of that being said, which ice cream shop in Maine was named one of the best in the country?
Mt. Desert Island Ice Cream, with locations in Bar Harbor and Portland, as well as in Washington D.C. and Matsumoto and Azumino, Japan, received the following praise from 24/7 Wall St.:
Software developer Linda Marie Parker opened her first location, in Bar Harbor, in 2005, “with not much of a vision except to make my favorite dessert the best way I knew how,” she says. She started out wanting to produce flavors you couldn’t find elsewhere – leading to experiments like chocolate wasabi. She still creates such uncommon flavors as Bay of Figs and coriander lemon curd, but has also gone on to perfect standards like chocolate and vanilla – and of course blueberry, based on Maine’s most famous fruit.
